Talent show to benefit choir director's family

For years Harrisburg High School has hosted a talent show.

This year was to be no different.

With the curtain set to rise February 22, Choir Director Amy Jarrett was preparing her students for the big night.

But last Friday the stage remained dark.

Instead, the spotlight shone on the school’s loss.

On Monday, February 18, Amy Jarrett and her husband, Tim, were involved in a car crash on U.S. Highway 64 near Earle.

Tim and Amy were taken to The MED in Memphis with serious injuries.  It was there that Amy died.

Instead of a talent show, funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Amy.

She is survived by her husband and two children, Luke and Lexi.

For weeks the students in her four groups (the Madrigals, mini-singers, high school and junior high school choirs) have been working on special songs to present at the show.

Believing the show must go on, her students will perform the songs as a tribute to Amy's memory at the HHS Annual Talent Show on Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.  Proceeds will benefit Amy's family.

Entries are still being accepted for performers.  The entry fee is $10 for a single performer, with an additional $5 per additional performer.  To enter, call Pamela Sain at (870) 783-0060 or Amy Wallace at (870) 930-4627.  All entries must be submitted by Friday, March 1.
